We are pleased to announce that Joe Bullister has joined the Solidus team as Director of Operations. With over 30 years of experience in the construction and real estate development industry, Joe will play a key role in managing and expanding operations across the company’s growing project portfolio. Joe will be based in Solidus’s Pittsburgh office, further expanding the company’s regional presence.
Brian Flemming, Principal and Chief Operating Officer of Solidus, expressed his excitement about Joe’s addition to the team. “Joe brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the design-build process, along with strong leadership and problem-solving skills that will be critical as we continue to serve our clients in an increasingly dynamic market.”
Joe’s strategic approach to managing complex projects and diverse teams, refined during his tenure at Kossman Development Company, positions him as a key asset to Solidus’s leadership team. His experience in managing multi-million dollar design-build projects, such as the $13.5M conversion of a former 104,000SF K-Mart into a multi-use and multi-tenant national retailer lease space and leading the team in the development of over $15M in free-standing and roof-mounted solar energy installations, spans a wide range of sectors, from mixed-use developments and commercial real estate to tenant fit-outs and large-scale utility grade solar installations.
Prior to joining Solidus, Joe held various leadership roles at PW Campbell, where he served as Senior Vice President of Preconstruction Services. In this capacity, Joe managed hundreds of projects across the East and Midwest. His experience includes working closely with C-suite clients and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution. Joe also consistently led his team in securing high-value design-build contracts and managed key client relationships.
At PW Campbell, Joe also served as Vice President and Director of Studio 109 Designs, overseeing the company’s architecture arm, managing in-house architectural staff, and coordinating external consultants through all phases of project development. He demonstrated strong leadership in managing teams, improving processes, and ensuring department profitability. Throughout his tenure, Joe was known for his ability to mentor staff and lead successful preconstruction and design-build projects across the region.
Joe’s academic background is equally impressive. He has degrees in Business Administration from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and civil engineering studies at the University of Pittsburgh and Penn State University. He also completed the Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship Training Program, further enhancing his technical expertise in the construction industry.
At Solidus, Joe will oversee operations across multiple locations and ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. He will also focus on operational process improvements and fostering strong client relationships, which are critical aspects of Solidus’s approach to delivering high-quality design-build solutions. Joe is excited to bring his unique perspective and experience to Solidus and looks forward to contributing to the company’s continued success and growth.
