Solidus recently took part in the ground-breaking ceremony for a new, state-of-the-art, 2,500 sq. ft. branch office of Cape Ann Savings Bank at 4 School House Road in Gloucester, Mass. This is the first-ever, ground-up project for Cape Ann. It will be part of a new development shared by the Gloucester YMCA and an apartment complex.
The building’s overall feel will pay homage to Cape Ann’s original bank. This will be seen in choice of exterior materials that match its main office on Main Street in Gloucester. But the branch design is fresh to attract new customers. The branding, finishes and furniture are more contemporary than any previous Cape Ann Savings Bank design, and management also opted to install solar panels on the roof.
Solidus began the new building’s design in 2019. The project faced challenges as the site is shared by multiple parties. A land lease had to be completed and Solidus had to work through a special permit process to win approval of a drive-through lane before construction documents could go out to bid. Now underway, the project is on schedule to be completed in April 2022.
